The Margaret Wenzlaff Scrapbooks

These scrapbooks consist of newsclippings covering local history, for the years 1954-1991. The Campbellsport Area Historical Society (CAHS) is in the process of indexing the scrapbooks, so that online users know what treasures can be seen at the CAHS site in the Campbellsport Public Library. The indices also help users locate the articles when they come to the CAHS area at the library. The first index to appear online is that of Book N-10, covering December, 1971 – December, 1974. Because of the vast amount of material in each scrapbook, we have indexed only weddings (and related articles, such as engagement announcements), and obituaries. But the articles cover many other topics. They albums are immensely interesting, and are worth your time and effort to come see!

Hello, I'm thrilled to see what you call the "Margert Wenzlaff Scrapbooks" material on line! I'm Mark Stuart, and my Grandmother on my mother's side was Rose Becker. Those were actually her scrapbooks. I remember quite well the time and cutting and pasting (not by computer!) Grandma Becker spent putting those clippings together from the Campbellsport News. I often wondered why she would work so hard at this and who would ever be interested. In May, 1991, Rose Becker died, hence, the end date of the scrapbooks. I didn't think much about them for years until after Margert Wenzlaff and her husband Sly passed away (Uncle Syl and Aunt Marge) a few years ago. I was at Margert's daughter's home for Christmas where we often get together for dinner with my mother, and I was offered Grandma's scrapbooks! I knew they would be of interest to the people of this website, so I suggested she donate them to you if she didn't want them. I'm just very glad to see all that paper cutting and glueing by Grandma Becker for so many years is paying off! Thanks for making such good use of her efforts!
